CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY-OFF FINAL

COVENTRY vs LUTON TOWN (1645)
Some say it’s the richest game in world football. We’ve been there and like Michelangelo we’ve felt the agony and the ecstasy. We’ve touched the highest of footballing highs and plummeted to its lonely depths. Luton finished the season in third place, missing out on automatic promotion by 11 points. Ten years ago they were playing non-league football. Coventry spent the early part of this season at or near the bottom of the table. For both clubs, playing in this game represents exceptional progress. For one, it will end in pain. The other will be playing us in the Premier League next season. Come on, Coventry.

LEAGUE TWO PLAY-OFF FINAL

CARLISLE UNITED vs STOCKPORT COUNTY (1330)

*MONDAY*

LEAGUE ONE PLAY-OFF FINAL

BARNSLEY vs SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY (1500)

*SUNDAY*
Premier League. It looks like there’ll be tears in Leeds and Leicester and mega dodgy jammer relief on the blue side of the Mersey. All games kick off at 1630 – the only day of the season when all teams play and all at the same time.

ARSENAL vs WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS
A disappointing end to a season that for long Arsenal seemed destined to end as champions. To flounder at the last has become endemic in north London. An opportunity for Arteta to have a close look at the youngsters that may be taking them over the line next year. Home win.

ASTON VILLA vs BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION
What a season it’s been for both these sides. Brighton have their place in the Europa League sorted, but Villa have to win to be sure of qualifying for the Conference League. Draw.

BRENTFORD vs MANCHESTER CITY
Two more sides that have excelled, each in their own way, in 2022/23. Pride will let neither capitulate easily in the final game. Away win.

CHELSEA vs NEWCASTLE UNITED
The Magpies finish the campaign in fourth. Newcastle Browns all round. London Pride doesn’t seem like an apposite equivalent for Chelsea who, frankly, have been beyond dreadful this season. And events this afternoon could conspire to see them finish below us. An early away goal here will get the visiting fans all a-titter at the King Power. Draw.

CRYSTAL PALACE vs NOTTINGHAM FOREST
Well done to Forest. It didn’t look like they would survive, but they’ve done it. Prime contenders for the drop in 2024? Home win.

EVERTON vs BOURNEMOUTH
Now then. The Cherries have nothing to play for, the Toffees have everything. Again, an early away goal will get the home support at Elland Road and the King Power really going. But you suspect that another skin-of-the-teeth escape is on the cards. Despite what could have been. Home win.

LEEDS UNITED vs TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
The looks on the faces of Leeds players at the final whistle last weekend said it all. For Leeds to stay up, they’ll have to win by three and hope that neither Leicester nor Everton win. Not impossible, but unlikely. Sorry. Bye. Draw.

LEICESTER CITY vs WEST HAM UNITED
For a while, this looked like a do-or-die fixture for both sides. Now it looks like the death rattle for the Foxes. Unless they win and Everton don’t. Stranger things have happened, but not often. Away win.

MANCHESTER UNITED vs FULHAM
Fulham finish the season in commendable tenth while their hosts will claim third if they avoid defeat today. Home win.

SOUTHAMPTON vs LIVERPOOL
Liverpool finish fifth and the Saints are rock bottom. Could be a game for future first teamers on both sides. Away win.

Fair dues to Wednesday, they finished clear third too, same as Luton, plus I fucking hate Barnsley.

Re: Saturday football
you think we were poor value for money? - look at what chelsea spent last year only to finish two places above us. They'll have to hoof that amount again to get near top 4.

Anyone see how wildly Villa fans celebrated qualifying for the Conference League?

Someone ought to tell them it’s a two-bob competition.

Re: Saturday football
One thing I've noted about these so called firefighters, coming in at the end to try and do every one a favour and keep a club up, is that they don't have the passion or seem to care enough about their new club and its fans, take Smith and BFS they don't even seem that arsed, where you could see that their predecessors, Rodgers and Marsch, looked devastated when they lost. All this they're a hero if they keep them up, but if not it's not their fault anyway, is a load of old bollocks. (Big) money for old rope. Quite happy that we stuck with Moyes now, instead of some grinning, no mark cunt coming in instead.

Credit to lampard for getting his team scoring again today.

Any update on how long Pickford might be out for with his sore finger?

Re: Saturday football
Away from our own limp wristed shit, an otherwise enjoyable end to the season.

Lampard finishing with a worse managerial record than Les REED and Allardyce taking a team from outside the relegation places to relegation by winning ZERO games.

Everton were never going to deducted points this season. Lets hope they get a -15pts next season.
